The new Labour Government: challenges and opportunities

Following Labour’s landslide general election victory, Sir Keir Starmer has appointed a new set of Treasury ministers, led by the Chancellor, Rachel Reeves. The Labour Treasury team have signalled they intend to move swiftly to advance their policy agenda; however, they are largely new to working with the machinery of Whitehall. They also face a host of challenging tax issues, from finding new sources of revenue to modernising administration.
